The Sewing Machine Skills City & Guilds level one covers two units and is taught over a period of approx 30 hours. We will be running the course on a Thursday evening 6-9pm once a month starting in October (dates tbc) over 10 months.
The first unit is Design for Craft in which you will be required to use a range of basic craft materials, based on a personal approach, in order to understand the first stages in using design.
By the end of unit 1 you should be able to:

The 7716 Level 1 Certificate in Design and Craft, is designed as a first step in creative crafts.
By the end of unit 2 you should be able to:
use the basic elements of design in making a simple craft item or set of samples for assessment
prepare to make a basic craft item or a set of samples
work safely, using materials, tools and equipment applicable to this craft correctly
make a basic craft item or a set of samples.
During unit 2 you will produce a portfolio of samples using a range of machine techniques including; zips, buttonholes, pleating, how to use different attachments/stitches etc.
