Evening course - Learn how to make a strapless evening gown
This course will teach you how to make a strapless boned evening dress ready for a special occasion. The dress can be made with a shaped (sweet heart) neckline if preferred with a fully lined bodice & A line or semi fitted skirt. The skills learnt can be applied to a number of garments to create that perfect fit.
Price includes the use of sewing machines, pattern, boning and all equipment. Some hand finishing will need to be done at home.
Things you will learn
- choosing the correct size for you
- make & fit a strapless toile
- transferring the toile to your fabric
- adding boning to create structure
- insert a concealed zip
- make adjustments
- add piping (optional)
- attach a suitable skirt
- positioning & pinning pattern & cutting correctly
- hemming the dress to the right length
You will need to bring:
- approx 3 metres of duchess satin, polyester or raw silk (a medium weight is more suitable) please email me if unsure. I will advise on exact amounts when I know your measurements & style. Please wait until we have prepared your toile before buying fabric as it will depend on size & style.
- 22" concealed zip in matching colour
- matching thread
Suitable for: Someone who is confident in sewing & has made a range of garments.
Please note: This is a 7 week evening course running on a Wednesday from 6.15 - 8.30 pm on the 26/3, 2/4, 23/4, 30/4, 7/5, 14/5 & 21/5/25. There are no sessions on the 9th & 16th April due to Easter holidays.
