This series of workshops will teach you a range of basic sewing skills that are needed to complete and finish a range of projects including; dressmaking, soft furnishings, alterations etc. The skills learnt will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to enable you to take on and finish new sewing projects. During the course you will construct a small purse & cushion. You will also be provided with an additional pin cushion kit to complete at home.
Things you will learn:
Week one : Learning how to use a sewing machine. Cutting & sewing your purse.
Week two: Making a covered button & machine sew a buttonhole
Week three: Inserting a zip in your mini cushion.
Week four: Making bias & piping & constructing your cushion.
Please note: If there is a particular skill you would like to learn, this can be discussed during the workshop. This is a course of 4 workshops which run every Tuesday evening 6.15-8.15pm from 25th March to 29th April 2025. There are no sessions on the 8th & 15th April due to Easter holidays.
Additional Costs: None, everything is included in the price but if you wish to bring your own fabric for a purse you will need approx. 1/4 metre.
Knowledge Level: Suitable for beginners or those who want to brush up on basic skills.
