Clothes Making from a Pattern - Evening workshop

Do you long to make your own clothes but find it difficult to follow a pattern? This 7 week workshop will give you the skills to make your own unique garment from start to finish. You will select your own pattern and fabric and learn step by step from pattern cutting and making a toile through to the importance of hand finishing. You will be able to learn about different materials, design and patterns.

You will learn:

  • How to follow & cut a pattern
  • Make a toile
  • Take accurate measurements
  • Make alterations (if required)
  • Pin & cut the fabric
  • Add darts, pleats, zip and buttons
  • Accessorise for individuality (if time)

Additional Costs: You will need to provide a 'Very Easy' simple clothes pattern, ideally; Simplicity, Butterick or New Look (one item please). You will also need to bring the specified fabric quantity (usually shown on the reverse of the pattern). Tools, refreshments & fabric for the toile is included in the price. I would avoid choosing a jersey pattern if this is your first garment & also Burda patterns.

Please note:  The workshop runs every Tuesday 6.15pm-8.00pm for 7 weeks starting on 12/1/21  and finishing on 23/2/21.  Some hand sewing may need to be done at home.
